One of the largest mobile operators of Azerbaijan, the Bakcell Company, has introduced EDGE  – the technology of data transfer which provides high throughput and faster transfer speed for internet access from your mobile phone. In order to start using the new technology, Bakcell customers simply need to send a blank SMS to 6950. In return, they will receive an SMS containing settings for their phone. After saving the settings, customers can use the internet at the rate of 4 contours per each 40Kb for Cin subscribers, and 1 gyapik per each 40Kb for Klass subscribers. The reliability of high speed internet access is assured by a contract between Bakcell and Nokia Siemens Networks which provides for GSM network expansion and upgrade to EDGE for enhanced quality and coverage.
