Bakcell, the first mobile operator in Azerbaijan, announces the appointment of Mr. Richard Shearer as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. Mr. Shearer comes to Bakcell with strong expertise in leading the operations of major telecommunications companies in some of the world’s most competitive markets. His experience has mainly focused on provision of telecommunications services in the wireless segment. Previously, Mr. Shearer served as the CEO of DiGi Telecom in Malaysia, Empower Interactive Group Ltd and BTC Mobile EOOD (Vivatel) in Bulgaria. He also acted as the Commercial Director of T-Mobile in UK and was a Management Board Member of Telkomunikacja Polska SA, Central and Eastern Europe’s largest telco. Commenting on his new appointment, Mr. Richard Shearer said: "It's a great honor to join Bakcell, which has such a strong position in the Azerbaijan telecoms market.
